Although it won't be released until at least 2010, the Chevrolet Volt could bring the American car maker out of its current stalemate. The Volt is a hybrid like no other – it combines the gasoline-free lifestyle of an electric, with the range-extending possibilities of a gas-powered vehicle. It's able to drive up to 40 miles without using a drop of crude. The small gas engine will help get you where you need to go beyond that, although it will need to be plugged in to fully charge the batteries. Just think, a commuter car will actually help Americans consume less oil. Revolutionary.
