This November and December, PassinArt will present “Black Nativity,” a special holiday gospel play that retells the famous nativity story with a majority of African American cast, for the fifth year in a row.

The play is performed in an uplifting gospel style which includes some traditional Christmas carols.

The show runs from Nov. 29 to Dec.15, with performances at 7:30 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays and at 3 p.m. on Sundays. There will also be a community preview on the evening of Nov. 28.

All performances will take place at Bethel AME Church, 5828 NE 8th Ave.

Passinart is also seeking volunteers who are passionate about live theatre and want to meet new people, learn new things and experience live theatre and cultural events. The organization has openings in a variety of areas.

Those interested should fill out the volunteer application available online and email it to to connie@passinart.org, with confirmation you can attend one of the following training sessions:

• Saturday, October 19, 2019 from 12:30-2 pm• Saturday, October 26, 2019 from 12:30-2 p.m.

The sessions will take place at St. Stephen Missionary Church, Annex Building, 3605 NE Mallory Avenue.
