De La Salle North Catholic High School (DLSNC) has announced the appointment of Ms. Erin Reid as its next principal. Reid is the fifth principal of DLSNC, succeeding Tim Joy, who has served in the role for the past 11 years and is stepping down as principal to return to the classroom. The appointment is effective as of July 1, 2021.

DLSNC welcomes Reid's leadership

Reid comes to DLSNC from the Robert A. Jamieson School in Peoria, Illinois, an innovative K-12 public school that includes a transitional program for developmentally disabled young adults. A passionate educator for the past 20 years, Reid started her teaching career at St. Gregory High School in downtown Chicago teaching Honors Shakespeare. In addition, Reid herself went to a Christian Brothers high school, Driscoll Catholic in Addison, Illinois. Reid says, “I see the move to DLSNC as bringing me full circle.”

DLSNC President Oscar Leong said, “I am extremely excited about having Erin join the DLSNC community."

"Her seasoned background in all aspects of education bodes well for both the short- and long-term futures of DLSNC."

"In addition to Erin's excellent educational background, she brings boundless energy and an amazingly positive outlook that will undoubtedly affect members of the faculty, staff, families, and most importantly, our students. The future is certainly bright for the Knight Nation community with the addition of new Principal Erin Reid."

Reid’s affinity to the Lasallian mission and the Cristo Rey Network model, as well as a long-held desire to move to the Pacific Northwest to be closer to family, led her to DLSNC. “I believe that DLSNC is the place where I can make the greatest impact at this point in my career. I can’t wait to be part of a close-knit environment where staff, faculty, and students all really know each other. I am thrilled to already have a sense of being at home and at peace within the community, and I look forward to many productive years under the new roof of DLSNC.” As principal, Reid will provide instructional and academic leadership, guide curriculum and instruction, coach teachers and foster their development, and serve as a faith leader in the DLSNC school community.

Ms. Reid's education and experience

Reid holds a BA in Secondary Education and an MA in Special Education from Northeastern Illinois University. She also has a Certificate of Advanced Studies in School Administration from National Louis University. Prior to her current position as principal of the Jamieson School, she held assistant/associate principal positions in two suburban Chicago high schools for a total of 12 years. Reid has extensive classroom experience, teaching special education as well as English. Since 2007, Reid has been a school administrative liaison, trip leader, and teacher trainer for Partner Schools Worldwide which sponsors collaborative development opportunities worldwide for students and teachers.

“I would like the students and families of DLSNC to know that I am equal parts business and fun. I look forward to getting to know the Knight Nation community and getting to know the staff and faculty who have dedicated their careers to this important mission."
