Wednesday, July 28 at 5:30 p.m. Oregon Shakespeare Festival (OSF) will present the next in their series of free online readings: Morgan Lloyd Malcolm's Emilia, directed by OSF Artistic Associate Raphael Massie. This script-in-hand reading will be performed live, with no recording available after the performance—it's a one-time opportunity to experience this powerful play with an OSF resident artist directing a host of powerful OSF actors.

Synopsis

Four hundred years ago, Emilia Bassano wanted her voice to be heard. It wasn’t. Could she have been the “Dark Lady” of Shakespeare’s sonnets? What of her own poetry? Why was her story erased from history? Morgan Lloyd Malcolm’s playful play brings an unapologetically feminist take on Shakespeare’s legacy. Approximate running time: 2 hours, 45 minutes.
