A free seminar and workshop, “Understanding Trauma, Additions, Spiritual Strongholds, and Mental Health”, will be held Saturday, November 19, 8:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. The event is conducted by clergy, licensed drug and alcohol clinicians, mental health certified counselors, and peer support specialists. Included are video clips featuring nationally renowned neuroscientists and experts on shame and guilt.

Participants will gain both biblical and clinical knowledge to effectively identify, minister, and counsel those grappling with wounds and hurts of the past that may hinder their growth and simply keep one from enjoying a better quality of life.

Seminar leader Bruce Feathers notes, “I am unaware of any seminar of this kind ever being offered in Oregon, where biblical truths and clinical therapeutics team to share best practices and interventions useful against personal hurts, habits, hang ups, wounds, mental health issues and more.”

Topics include:

  • Trauma/Adverse Childhood experiences
  • Maladaptive coping mechanisms
  • Addictions, strongholds, and mental health
  • Taking thoughts captive (CBT)
  • Spirit soul, body, and salvation
  • Managing toxic and intrusive thoughts
  • Overcoming strongholds and conquering your bag of pain

The workshop and seminar will be held at New Song Church, 2511 NE Martin Luther King, Jr Blvd in Portland. Breakfast and lunch provided. Admission is free with registration.
