Students who will attend the new Rosa Parks Elementary School at the New Columbia site in North Portland can register through Sept. 5. The first day of school is Wednesday, Sept. 6.
Registration for kindergarten through sixth grade students will be conducted from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. through Friday, Aug. 18, at Ball Elementary School, 4221 N. Willis Blvd.
Beginning Monday, Aug. 28, registration will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. through Thursday, Aug. 31, and Tuesday, Sept. 5, at Rosa Parks Elementary School, 8960 N. Woolsey Ave.
Families must provide the following information when registering: two pieces of proof of residency, with address; one piece of picture identification, different from the first two items. Kindergarteners must also have an original birth certificate and an immunization record from a physician.
Registration is primarily for new students who reside in the recently constructed New Columbia neighborhood. Students who attended Ball Elementary last year will attend Rosa Parks, and their school records have been sent.
Some students living in New Columbia will attend Clarendon Elementary School. For information on neighborhood school assignment, go to www.pps.k12.or.us/ and click on "Register Your Student," or call Enrollment Services, 503-916-3205.
