Interested in helping out with this year's Good in the Hood celebration? The event's planning team is holding a kick-off celebration for the annual festival from 6 to 10 p.m. on Monday, June 21 at McMenamin's Kennedy School. The evening will be feature a live performance by Curtis Salgado, a fashion show by Amani and comedy from a "special guest."
McMenamins will be donating a portion of food and drinks purchased to help offset expenses it takes to host the festival.
Later in the week, the Good Neighbor Night Mixer, featuring live music and food, will be held the night before the kick-off parade from 6 to 10 p.m. at King School Park, at the corner of Northeast 6th Avenue and Humboldt Street, south of Alberta. Click here to see the map

The Good in the Hood Festival will be held on Saturday, June 26 and Sunday, June 27. A Community parade will kick off the festival at 11 a.m. on Saturday from Dawson Park. The festival starts at noon at King School Park with live performances by Ocean 503, Patrick Lamb Band, Norman Sylvester Band, the Erotic City Prince Tribute Band, Elite, Judah, Kode Bluuz and more. In addition to the musical performances, there will be a beer and wine garden, a variety of food from 20 vendors, a marketplace featuring goods from around the world and other booths from community businesses and organizations.
