Still higher number of flu victims than in usual flu season

The H1N1 vaccine is trickling into Oregon more slowly than expected. Public health officials anticipate a cumulative amount of 528,155 doses by Nov. 20. Until more vaccine arrives, health officials are urging local heath departments and tribes to target vaccine outreach to the people who are at greatest risk for hospitalization and death... Portland Community College student Damani Proctor has been selected one of 105 students nationwide for the NASA Student Ambassador Program.
Ambassadors will interact with the agency while sharing information, making professional connections and collaborating with peers. They also will represent NASA in a variety of venues and help the agency inspire and engage future interns and fellows. Proctor is working on his associate's degree in Microelectronics Technology Program at the Rock Creek Campus. After college he aspires to use his two degrees to find work in the solar electronics industry.

EUGENE, Ore. (AP) -- The students stomped their feet, heckled and then stood and turned their backs as the speaker at the University of Oregon defended red-baiting Sen. Joseph McCarthy and called Martin Luther King Jr. a communist dupe.
