PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) -- Faced with a surge of gang-related violence, the largest city in Oregon has approved what a national mayors group says is an innovative law designed to reduce the carnage in gun crime ``hot spots.''

TACOMA, Wash. (AP) -- A jury in Tacoma returned mixed verdicts Monday against four people accused of helping Maurice Clemmons after he gunned down four Lakewood police officers in a coffeeshop last year.

SEATTLE (AP) -- A 19-year-old graduate of Aberdeen High School sued the school district Tuesday, blaming officials for failing to keep him from being bullied by classmates who smashed an egg on his head, taunted him over his race and perceived sexual orientation, and set up a malicious MySpace page in his name.

The Portland Police Bureau has arrested six people and seized an estimated $3 million worth of pot plants and street drugs, as part of a major drug trafficking bust.
