Good in the 'Hood 2013 got off to an exuberant start Saturday morning. The parade left King School at 11:30 heading for Lillis Albina Park near Emanuel Hospital for the popular festival.

A memorial service was held at Maranatha Church on Northeast 12^th Avenue Friday, to celebrate the short life of a baby found dead at the North Portland recycling center May 29.  Baby Precious weighed 5 lbs and was hours or days old when she died. Her parents are unknown.

Billy Webbs Elks Lodge hosted the premiere of a new short film from Soul River productions, Wednesday evening. About 50 people turned out to see Conservation Consciousness Runs Deep," and hear from some of the people who made the project happen.

A memorial service will be held Friday morning for "Baby Precious" who was found dead May 28 at the North Portland Recycling Center. The service will be held at 11 a.m. at Maranatha Church, 4222 Northeast 12th Ave. After that the baby will be interred at Riverview Cemetery, 0300 Southwest Taylors Ferry Road.

Second Chances are for Everyone is one of Portland's newest nonprofits. Founded by Emanuel Price, SCAFÉ –rhyme it with café– helps men into work and careers, by offering mentorship and practical support.

Two new productions were submitted in June to NPMTC's Oral History Video Contest Initiated in January 2012 to collect stories of "Life in Vanport," the project's original contest theme.
