Law enforcement authorities in Toledo, Ohio, announced Friday that a box containing human remains was found in a home where 1-year-old Elaina Steinfurth was last seen in June, but they did not say whether the remains are those of the missing toddler.
Toledo Police Chief Derrick Diggs told reporters the "immature human remains" were found Thursday in a box in the rafters of a garage belonging to Steven King, the ex-boyfriend of Elaina's mother, Angela Steinfurth.
Toledo police said they were executing a search warrant at King's home when they found the box.
Elaina has been missing since June 2. Steinfurth and King both face charges of obstructing justice in the case.
