Portland's 4th Annual Native American Housing to Homeownership Fair is Saturday, July 25, at the Native American Youth and Family Center, 5135 NE Columbia Blvd.
The fair provides a wide range of housing and homeownership resources tailored to the Portland Metropolitan area's Native American community and is an equal housing opportunity event with a culturally specific focus – free and open to everyone.
The Native American Housing to Homeownership Fair is a key part of NAYA Family Center's initiative to close the Native American homeownership gap. Although homeownership rates in Portland are over 65%, only 25% of American Indian and Alaska Native community members own their own home. Since our inaugural Fair in 2006, our homeownership programming has resulted in over 40 new homeowners or refinances. It's important for members of Portland's Native community to know that buying a home is a goal that can be achieved by finding the right path and using the right resources.
