Tuesday night at Powell's Books, author and editor Rob Spillman will be reading from the anthology, "Gods and Soldiers: The Penguin Anthology of Contemporary African Writing."
Spillman will begin the reading and discussion at 7:30 p.m. at the bookstore's downtown location, 1005 W. Burnside St. on July 8. The anthology includes the work of authors from a wide array of backgrounds, languages, regions and perspectives, including Chinua Achebe, Chris Abani, Laila Lalami, Nuruddin Farah, J.M. Coetzee and Nadine Gordimer.
ROB SPILLMAN is editor and cofounder of "Tin House," a bicoastal literary magazine that represents cutting edge fiction and nonfiction today. He is also the executive editor of Tin House Books and cofounder of the Tin House Literary Festival, now in its sixth year. His writing has appeared in BookForum, The Boston Review, Connoisseur, Details, GQ, the New York Times Book Review, Real Simple, Rolling Stone, Salon, Spin, Sports Illustrated, Vanity Fair, Vogue, Worth etc., and in essay collections.
