Tyharra Cozier and William Earl Ray manifest the trauma of sexism and racism on Black Americans in "Seven Guitars" by August Wilson. Cozier plays Ruby, a woman men fight and kill over. Ray plays Hedley, whose interior conflicts burst forth with quaking rage. The two enact one of the seven emotional entanglements that weave through "Seven Guitars".
Josie Seid, James Dixon, Taylore Mahogany Scott, Telvin Griffin, Tyharra Cozier, Jerry Foster, and William Earl Ray are appearing in August Wilson's "Seven Guitars" Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays through April 9 in the Brunish Theater, 1111 SW Broadway, downtown Portland.
Pay-what-you-will tickets are still available for Thursday, April 6. Suggested minimum price is $7. Fees will be applied. For more information and tickets, visit passinart.org/seven-guitars-by-august-wilson.
