On April 12, Cascade's Black Student Union will be hosting a Black Love Event from 11am-2pm. Speaker Sekou Ayo Handi Kendi will be at the Moriarty Arts Center at Cascade.

Ayo Handy-Kendi is the founder and CEO of PositivEnergyWorks™ and is renown as a Breathologist and The Breath Sekou, She became a Certified Breath Facilitator (CTF) in 1996, a Certified Breathologist in 2004, founded Optimum Life Breathology in 2010, certifying over 100 Breathologist, and a Certified Laughter Yoga Teacher and Leader in 2013.   She is further certified as Reiki I, II, Qi Gong I, II and as a Diversity Trainer and is a B.A. degreed Counselor and Community Organizer for over 40 years.  

Handy-Kendi will demonstrate more than 40 years of experience as a holistic practitioner, breathologist, stress manager, community organizer, life coach/counselor, speaker,
storyteller, author, producer-- inspiring countless numbers in their growth and development.

As CEO of PositivEnergyWorks™, she offers a wellness service integrating Breath with transformative practices such as Senior Yoga Movement, Tantra, Meditation, Reiki, Ra Sekhi, Jin Shin Tara, Visualization, Cartharting, Aroma and Laugh Therapy, Diversity training and Life Coaching. She is also renown as the founder of Optimum Life Breathology™ and the founder of Black Love Day, Feb. 13th. 

She is considered an authority in the field of Breathology, and transpersonal growth due to broad training in the study of breath since 1970 .  She has trained With master Rebirther/Breathwork Guru, Leonard Orr; The Art of Living; Vispassana; Mindfulness;   Transcendental Meditation (TM );  and many other masters in the Breath.  In 1996, she was credentialed as a Certified Transformational Facilitator (CTF) from the International Breath Institute of Boulder, Col.    Then, in  2004,Mama Ayo coined the term “Breathology” and in 2010 began certifying other “Breathogists” in the desire to expand a “breath movement” .  She is the author of Applied Breathology; The Power of the Breath for Children; and The Black Love Book, along with co-producing over 7 C.D.s and DVD.s on Breathology and Culture.  

Truly passionate about this ancient technique because breath changed her life, she has witnessed the impact of the “power of the breath” while coaching breath techniques to billions on radio, t.v, in print, in presentations, workshops and in her private practice, helping others transform their lives and their relationships.
