The Genealogical Forum of Oregon (GFO) holds an African American Special Interest Group each month. This month’s topic is "Bring Your Own Brick Wall."

GFO invites the public to bring their problems, questions, and documents (copies, please, no originals.) They will brainstorm to come up with information and suggestions that can direct your next steps and may help you solve some of your family mysteries.

The meeting will be held Saturday, Oct. 19, at 12:00 p.m. in the GFO library, 2505 S.E. 11th Ave., Suite B-18, Portland, located downstairs in the basement.

Their African American Special Interest Group Meetings are held monthly on the third Saturday at noon. The focus of the meetings is researching African American ancestry. The facilitator is Janice Sellers. Please check The Skanner Community Calendar or the GFO calendar for updates and more information.

If you know of any other people interested in African American genealogy, tell them about the group. You do not have to be a GFO member to participate. For more information, contact african_american@gfo.org.
