The Oregon Symphony is pleased to announce this year’s holiday programming, with 11 concerts at the Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall offering a variety of holiday classics and cultural celebrations that will appeal to audiences of all ages and backgrounds.

Highlights of this year’s holiday concert series include Handel's Messiah which features Portland State University Chamber Choir with the Oregon Symphony on Dec. 4 and the 24th annual performance of the popular Gospel Christmas featuring NW Community Gospel Chorus on Dec. 9th and 10. Following the success of last year’s sold-out performance, A Very Merry Mariachi Christmas Concert with Mariachi Sol de México® de José Hernández returns on Dec. 11, and a special New Year’s Eve performance of Beethoven's Ninth Symphony on Dec. 30 and 31, which will end with a celebratory balloon drop to ring in the new year.

Associate Conductor Deanna Tham will be conducting six holiday concerts during her second season with the Oregon Symphony, including the Holiday Brass concert. This new musical tradition was introduced last year and showcases the power and precision of the orchestra’s brass section.

“The Oregon Symphony cherishes the holiday season as a unique time of the year when we honor and embrace a variety of cultural traditions, bringing joy to the richly diverse communities of Oregon,” says Tham. “With 11 celebratory concerts, this is one of the symphony’s biggest holiday seasons. Sharing the joy of a live music experience is a great way to create special memories with friends and family.”
