An estimated 2,000 floaters tugged on life vests, climbed aboard inflated innertubes and set out across the Willamette River on Sunday, for the third annual Big Float event designed to encourage recreation on the river. With live music and prizes for the wildest costumes, the event offered a food-cart-fueled dance party at the beach
bowl on Tom McCall Waterfront Park.

Former Metro Councilor Robert Liberty was on hand, decked out in white yachting gear.

Next year's fourth annual Big Float planning is already underway, organizers say.
