The nonprofit AGE+, which works to improve life for Oregon’s elders, is encouraging us to celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. Day with activities that explore equity, inclusion and Dr King’s influence on the nation.

AGE+ is recommending a range of cultural and educational events and activities:

In an email message the nonprofit says, "Across the United States on Monday, January 17,  people will be honoring the legacy and life of Dr. King with events, volunteering and by taking part in cultural and educational activities.

"
The long term impacts of systemic racism and inequality, particularly in the daily lives of Black adults and those in communities of color, is an important, ongoing conversation in which all Oregonians need to participate.

"We hope you join us Monday and every day in our deep commitment to apply equity, inclusion and, above all, compassion into our actions and activities. "

AGE+'s next briefing paper series will focus on equity in aging. Find out more about AGE+.
